MASKmission Inc., a Black-owned 501(c)(3) charitable organization located in Miami, Florida was founded in 2020 by Leah McLeod, a neuroscience major, who jumped into action during a worldwide pandemic to save lives and help bring a sense of calming relief to communities in need.
As the demands changed over time, MASKmission restructured its projects providing warm blankets, school supplies, body care, first aid products, baby care items to the homeless, teens and young adults aging out of foster care.
MASKmission took the events that ensued during the pandemic as a catalyst to help change a broken system that at the time, was not in place to help those who needed it most. MASKmission’s goal is to be able to save lives by helping Miami communities prepare and have emergency items readily available and a system in place even before the crisis begins.
MASKmission’s vision continues to Motivate and Spread Kindness (MASK) by responding in times of crises to improve the health and well being of underserved and historically marginalized communities in and around the Greater Miami area.
“During these times, it breaks my heart to see people so divided, ..and so I feel as though giving back to my community brings a sense of unity within the chaos.” – Leah McLeod, founder of MASKmission Inc.
